3D Game Production - 3D Inspiration + Influences

I was inspired this week by two posts I found on Artstation, where both share a similar style of limited colour palette and a expressive female form:

Piece 1: Qinghua by Qi Sheng Luo (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/q9Jd5L)

"Sculpt with Zbrush, tattoo on the body was hand painted with Photoshop.rendered with Arnold for Maya."

  • I enjoy the flow of the pose of this piece, where the lines of the form follow each other to intersect at the upper hand of the woman.

  • I also enjoy the texturing of the model, where the pattern of traditional porcelain is used all over the model's skin. It is also used to refine the shape of the hair beyond the flat sculpting, making the model more delicate and fine as a result.

Piece 2: Bonsai by Ana Cutsevol (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/NxyPl5)

"A new look at an old project. Personal concept with ZBrush."

  • In this piece, a similar flow is achieved as the sculpture is of an expressive dancing form. The cloth and the branches also similarly follow the shapes and mimic what the dancer is doing, spreading out with the dancers arms.
  • This piece has no colour or texturing, it is a simple render of a Zbrush sculpt, which helps keep the form light by adding no additional shading.
